About Me

I've been in ministry for 27 years, first as a pastor then as a healthcare chaplain. My doctoral research was on the experience of marriage for spouses of dementia patients, and out of that research came Sanctuary in the Midst of Alzheimer's.  I currently train churches to become a resource in their community for dementia caregivers. My favorite thing is to help dementia caregivers find meaning and a sense of peace in their experience; believe me, it can be found! I am a graduate of United Theological Seminary (D.Min.), The Methodist Theological School in Ohio (M.Div.) and Ohio Northern University (B.A. Education) Currently, I am working on a companion Bible study for Sanctuary in the Midst of Alzheimer's designed for adult children caring for a parent with dementia. My third book, Mary and Martha Caregiving will be out next year and provides tricks to make physical caregiving easier while addressing the emotional challenges  caregivers face every day. I live near Cleveland, Ohio and share 7 wonderful daughters with my husband, Leo. You may reach me at mail@elizabethshulman.com
